this and that
I was talking with Little Coches yesterday when revelers from the 2007 Southern New Mexico Pride Parade and Picnic festivities marched through the downtown farmers market.
"I'm just old fashioned," she humphed. "I believe a man is a man and a woman is a woman. I don't like it when people try to ram something down my throat."
Little Coches and Thomas are still homeless. She hasn't sold many items. I'm probably her best customer. I bought a purple bracelet for a project I started Thursday. I also bought a one dollar pendant which caught my eye. I gave her two dollars for the two smokes I bummed in the past.
"Bring me some catnip Wednesday? A lady is asking for it." I promised I'd drop off a load before school.
I walked around the market looking for a representation of my snakey little guest. (See post below). I found some snakes, but none to my liking. I did find an interesting jade pendant which looked sort of snakey. Larry Mikrut, of Larry Singing Heart Creations, said it's from New Zealand and symbolizes the eternal continuity of life. Or something. I bought it.
I drove over to Pioneer Park where the gay pride festival was underway. I found my snake among the glassworks of Anton Bodor. I spoke with Vinnie Donnadio, who told me that Daniel Trillie died in April. Daniel created amazing jewelry in collaboration with Anton, he said.
A couple days ago, as I came out of meditation, I saw a smooth round piece of wood in my right hand. When I walked up to J.J. Jaworski's display of functional and decorative woodturnings, I spotted the exact piece I'd seen in my hand. I bought it. (I'd give you J.J.'s e-mail address, but the card he gave me has a punch mark in the middle of the address, making it unreadable.)
Since I was in the buying mood, I picked up a bar of sandlewood soap (for yet another project) from Blue Feather Soaps.
I drove out to White Raven Studios for the first annual Taste of Las Cruces Gala. I shot 59 pix and published 17 of them.
I'm beat.
